Creating a Challenge Coin Tradition
Safety only starts with rules and regulations. You need to find ways to get your employees on board with your safety initiatives, and this is where safety award coins come into play. Our Signature Coins team has experience helping Coca-Cola bottling plants, Marathon oil refineries, and construction companies create their own safety coin programs. If you’re looking for some custom coins of your own, we’re here to make the process as quick and easy as possible.
How to Make Safety Coins For Your Team
Companies that need a boost in their safety programs use our coins in several different ways. They’re included at special events, training seminars and sometimes handed out during day-to-day operations to reward and encourage safe behavior in real-time.
Creating a safety incentive coin design for your company starts with an idea. Do you want to include your company logo in the artwork? Are your coins going to be included at a themed event? Think of different ways to make a special design that will resonate with your team, and write down a description of how you see the finished coins.
Send us your ideas by filling out a free quote form, and we’ll take care of the rest. However, it helps to know some of the design options we have available for custom challenge coins before getting started. Take a look below to see a few different ways that you can take your safety award coins to the next level!
Safety Coin Design Options
When it comes to making custom challenge coins, one of the first things to consider is the type of metal plating you need. Depending on the type of safety coin program you have in mind, you might want to consider ordering the same design in multiple plating options.
For example, some of our customers like to order their safety coins in gold, silver and copper plating so that they can use them in a tiered reward system. Not all safety coin programs work this way, but we like to make sure our customers know that they can order their design in a few different metal plating styles if they want to.
A majority of safety coins include company emblems and logos to some degree, so the next important design element to consider is color. We use Pantone colors for all of our corporate challenge coin design, making it easy for our production team to match a company’s brand artwork.
Make sure to send us the Pantone colors your company uses for all of its promotional materials, and we’ll use those Pantone colors for the physical coins.
A few other important things to keep in mind when it comes to safety coin designs are size and shape. The average size of challenge coins is about 1.75”, but it’s not uncommon to see company coins that are as large as 2.5” to 3”. If you’re looking to take things up a notch, we can also create a custom shaped coin or a functional bottle opener coin.
Custom bottle openers are unique and useful, making them a meaningful gift that you can use in your safety coin program. Functional bottle opener coins need to be at least 2.5” in size. This is the smallest size we recommend for bottle openers because the bottle opener hook will not be able to function properly if the coins are too small.
Pricing and Shipping Large Orders of Safety Incentive Coins
The cost of challenge coins is determined by the size of the design and the number of coins in the order. You can see a more detailed breakdown of unit price on our challenge coin pricing page. The best way to know what your coins will cost is to fill out a free quote form.
We’ll prepare a free pricing quote for you and free proof of artwork. All orders come with free overnight shipping, and our turnaround time is 14 days or fewer. If you need your coins delivered to multiple addresses, we’re happy to help arrange everything for you. However, there will be an additional shipping charge if you need your coins delivered to more than one address.
Several of the large companies that we work with like Coca-Cola, Marathon Petroleum, and XTO Energy, send their safety award coins to bottling plants, refineries and power stations located all over the county.
In some cases, we’re asked to ship the coins to one location via the free overnight shipping we offer so that they can repackage the coins on their own and send them out to different locations. Other times, we’re given a list of different locations and the number of coins to send to each location. We’re happy to organize all of the shipping for you, but it will incur an additional charge.
A majority of the years of service coins and employee recognition coins we help design are between 1.75” and 2”.
Something else to keep in mind as you design your coins is color. We use Pantone colors for all of our challenge coins designs. If your company has a style guide of a list of brand colors, let us know when you fill out your free quote form, and our art team will use the same Pantone colors for your coins.
If you have any questions related to pricing or shipping large orders of safety coins, feel free to give us a call or shoot us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
