From Proofing to Minting: What to Expect After Placing Your Order

I Like My Proof, Now What?

When you request a proof from Signature Coins, you’ll receive that first proof of artwork within 48 business hours. Our goal is 24 hours, but sometimes we get a little backlogged in the art department. From there, customers often want to see slight adjustments or changes made so that the design exactly matches (or exceeds) what they’d envisioned. Because we offer unlimited free revisions, you’re encouraged to suggest changes until you’re happy with the design presented to you. Don’t be bashful! We’d much rather you tell us exactly what you think and make a lot of changes at once than make them one at a time. You won’t hurt our feelings.

During this stage in the process, customers are in regular contact with the sales team and know what changes are being made. But what happens when you get a proof you like and you place your order for that coin? The lines of communication never close, but at this stage, no news is good news.  If there are any issues, complications or delays with your order, we'll let you know ASAP. Production runs smoothly in most cases, though, and we'll send you your tracking number as soon as your order is ready (typically before the scheduled ship date). But there can sometimes be questions about what to expect from your coin when you do eventually get it. After you approve a proof, here’s what you can expect to receive.

What You See is What You Get

The process of physically creating your coins is quite detailed. But at no time during that process do we change any aspect of the design of your coins unless it’s absolutely necessary, and even then we’ll alert you to these changes before making them. The simplest answer to the question of what you should expect from your coins upon delivery is that you should expect to see exactly what you saw on your proof. Our production team and the programs they use to machine the molds for your coins are very detailed. No element of your proof is too small to be accounted for in the final product.

In fact, we’re so certain of our ability to create designs in such high detail that we back all of our products with a 100% quality guarantee. When you receive your coins, if you see any factory or manufacturing error, let us know and we’ll replace the coins free of charge.

A Word About Colors

One common concern from customers has to do with the final color of their coins being as vivid as they appeared in the proof. If you’ve ever ordered something online, you know the pain of receiving your product and having the colors be just a little bit off, a little less vibrant, than you expected. With challenge coins representing specific military units, sports teams or corporations, getting the colors right is something that’s very important.

We take the colors of your challenge coin very seriously. To make sure that the colors on your minted coins are consistent with the colors shown on your proof, we use a Pantone Color System. Color is complicated because all screens display colors differently depending on their settings. Our use of the Pantone Color System means that the colors listed in your proof are exactly the same as the paints used in your final coins. This is a standardized set of colors that Fortune 500 companies and other organizations use to detail their brand standards and ensure consistency in every product and every location.

In addition to this system, we don’t simply rely on computers and machines to get the colors right. All of our coins are put through a strict quality control process in which the colors are checked and double checked for accuracy.

Having an item custom made can be an exciting process, and placing the design and creation of something so important to you in someone else’s hands takes trust. At Signature Coins, we know the only way to be worthy of that trust is to create a final product that is exactly what we promised it would be in the approved artwork proof. After you approve your proof and process your order, our production team will make sure your final coins perfectly adhere to that proof.
