Manufacturing Memories with the Naval Medicine Training Support Center

Capturing a Team’s Personality

In 2015, one of our long-term clients received his first set of custom coins and has been coming back ever since. When asked about his experience working with our Signature Coins team, Alan Rucker said, “I have been using the company for over a year now on seven separate projects. They have nailed it every time, and I have never been disappointed.”

Challenge coins are like memories shared by a team. You hand them out, and they are forever a symbol of what a group has learned and accomplished together. What makes working with Rucker and the Naval Medicine Training Support Center (NMTSC) so special is that it always gives us the chance to stretch our legs and test our creativity. As partners, we have made some incredibly unique coins and custom products that push the limits of what is possible in challenge coin design. One of our absolute favorites is this double winged insignia for the center.

Personality is what challenge coins are all about, and a custom coin like this really captures the spirit of a team. For the NMTSC, these coins are a reminder of teachers, classmates and long night study sessions; things that everyone experienced. Over time, it becomes harder and harder to remember what exactly was said or what every project was about, but something you never forget is how people made you feel. Our goal for every project is to capture the personality of a team so no one forgets that feeling, and can always look back with a smile.

Unique Designs for Unique Places

The NMTSC is home to over 2,500 students and more than 500 instructors and staff. Everything they do helps develop healthcare professionals ready to serve anywhere in the world as members of the United States Navy. The vision of the school is to live Navy culture, tradition and heritage while training the Navy’s best.

We have created coins for all sorts of different occasions at the center, and these Navy Birthday Ball challenge coins are another example of how custom shapes are perfect for making striking designs. The high polish gold plating makes the artwork pop against the dark blue, black and white colorfills. The cutouts around the helm in the center of the design are another unique touch that helps define the artwork.

Talking about his experience creating unique designs with our team, Rucker said, “My projects seem to keep getting bigger and they haven’t let me down. I recommend them to everyone who needs similar services.” The NMTSC is part of Joint Base San Antonio, which means that both the Navy and the Air Force are stationed together on the base. We have been fortunate enough to work with several other groups on base thanks to Rucker’s recommendation. This coin, for example, is a celebration of both the Navy and Air Force personnel working on base.

Both the sailor’s and airman’s creed are printed on the back of the coin. The front depicts the classic Air Force insignia as well as an anchor and double snake insignia representing the NMTSC. While it is not the actual symbol of the NMTSC, the anchor and double snake emblem is a reference to the caduceus symbol used throughout the United States Military to represent the medical profession. We have made all sorts of different designs for groups at Joint Base San Antonio, and the diversity in design just goes to show how unique the place really is.

No matter what our customers are looking for, our team works carefully to bring their ideas to life. Even if you need something like a boot-shaped coin with a spinning spur or an Air Force insignia with a spinning globe and black arrowhead incorporated in the design, you can be sure our team will create the unique design you are looking for.

Things That Keep You Coming Back

“Friendly and sensible people at [Signature Coins]. Very prompt in response and always willing to help with last minute changes and updates by either phone or email. In my case, they have never been unresponsive.”

We have worked on more than 10 projects for Joint Base San Antonio, and after being involved with almost all of them, Rucker’s advice for anyone thinking about working with us is, “... let them bring your ideas to life. They have done a few things for my organizations that I've never seen before and they have nailed it each time. Be prompt as well. The working relationship we have created is due in part to both sides responding quickly. Communication is key.”

Communication is key. Our staff is available by phone or by email throughout the whole process. If you need updates or would like to talk about design, we are happy to help! Having a healthy back and forth conversation helps our artists find the perfect balance of design elements, and ensures that our clients stay in control of the final product.

Rucker has trusted us with each project because of our prompt response times, top quality products and premium services. We have a passion for making custom coins, and it shows. We enjoy what we do, and we deliver on our claims. To put it simply, when asked whether or not Rucker would like to work alongside our Signature Coins team again, all he had to say was, “Definitely!”

If you are looking for a way to create something special in memory of your team’s service, consider creating a unique set of challenge coins. Give us a call to get started and see how we can capture your team’s personality through challenge coin design.
