Military Birthday Balls
A Meaningful Birthday Gift
Every year, the separate branches of the military celebrate Birthday Balls all over the world. While they are still formal occasions, a Birthday Ball is meant to be a time for enlisted service members to unwind and enjoy a sense of camaraderie with their fellows. Before taking part in the cake cutting ceremony and hearing toasts and speeches, don’t forget to start thinking about what kind of challenge coin will be minted for the celebration.
Over the years, we have been honored to produce custom Birthday Ball challenge coins for every branch of the U.S. Military. No matter what kind of design you need, you can trust our team to make something special for everyone to take home.
Ticket Style Challenge Coins
When it comes to military balls, creating a ticket coin is one of the most popular options. Besides sharing a similar shape, no two ticket coins are alike. Our art team takes your inspirations for design and creates original and compelling artwork to match the colors and themes of any kind of ball. To get an idea of what we can do, check out these three different ticket coins we designed for Navy balls all over the world.
This first coin is plated in high polish gold. The front of the coin has the seal of the U.S. Navy Support Facility Diego Garcia, as well as the date and year of the 242nd Navy Birthday Ball. Just under the date, you can see a small raised square were our production team adds sequential numbering before mailing the coins.
For the 243rd Birthday of the United States Navy, our team created these high polish silver coins for the sailors at Fort Worth. Each coin has sequential numbering engraved on the coin face, but one major difference in this design from the last is the use of colorfill. The recessed areas on the front of the coin are colored yellow, and on the back, the recessed areas are colored blue. These colors were added to help make the text more legible by adding some contrast.
Not all military balls are birthday balls. The crew of the USS Halsey contacted our team about making this copper-plated coin for their Starry Night Masquerade Ball. Our artists spent a lot of time getting the design just right for the intricate masks on the back side of the coin. No matter what a group is celebrating, ticket coins will always be a fun way to create a memorable gift for everyone attending.

Dual Purpose Coins and More Custom Shapes
Besides ticket style coins, things like bottle openers, key chains and other types of dual-purpose coins are popular to hand out at birthday balls. These coins were made specially for the United States Marine Corps’ Mountain Warfare Training Center. We are commonly asked to include the Marine Corps’ motto, Semper Fi, in designs, so we had it pressed along the shaft of the first ice ax on the back of the coin.
We make plenty of bottle opener coins that are round in shape like the Mountain Warfare Training Center Coins, but challenge coins can come in any shape you can think of. These coins were molded to look like the country of Germany and the continent of Africa while still incorporating a functional bottle opener into the design.
Not only are dual purpose coins like this a fun keepsake, but they are also the perfect tool to help everyone in attendance pop a cold one and enjoy the festivities. Besides bottle openers, we can make coins with functional screwdrivers or wrenches and even keychain style coins. Just let us know what you need and our team will take care of the rest.
