Beyond Breakfast Cereals

Kellogg's is a household name - thanks to brands like Frosted Flakes, Froot Loops, and Raisin Bran - but the company never lost sight of its foundational values during its meteoric rise to the top.

In fact, the company’s founder, W.K. Kellogg dedicated a lot of time into creating a set of “K Values” to help steer the company to a profitable and prosperous direction. Specifically, he set out to make it possible for people to be healthier and happier when they choose the Kellogg brand. Today, his legacy lives on through company programs like Feeding Happiness and W.K. VETS.

The custom coins we helped design for Kellogg’s and the W.K. VETS are just one example of how the company is so much more than you might think!

WK VETS Challenge Coins Honoring Excellence

The challenge coins we created for Kellogg’s are specifically used by members of the W.K. Vets senior leadership team. We designed a W.K. logo with a pair of dog tags wrapped around it to give the corporate logo a personal touch. On the flip side, we had to include a familiar face from the company - Tony the Tiger.

The messaging on the coin face is related to the company’s Feeding Happiness program, which is dedicated to helping people be healthier, happier, and together. And, to add an even more personal touch, the veterans at Kellogg included a custom card with each coin. The message is intended to show gratitude for excellent service and encourage recipients to continue their work in achieving the W.K. Kellogg vision.

Believe it or not, the Kellogg’s company has deep roots in military history. During World War II, they supplied over 40 million k-rations for U.S. armed forces deployed overseas. Employees also started a Kellogg Cookie Club where members would meet once a week to bake cookies for soldiers stationed all over the world. In 1943, the company was awarded a Bullseye Flag because more than 90 percent of their employees were investing 10 percent or more of their pay in war savings bonds.

Today, Kellogg’s continues to honor their founding values and support veterans wherever possible. The custom challenge coins we helped design are just one example of how members of their team are working to show appreciation for those in service, and the people helping bring the Kellogg vision of a healthier world to life!
