How Bulk Challenge Coin Pricing Works
The per-coin price on a custom challenge coin drops as the quantity climbs, because the expensive part of a coin order is the front end — the artwork and the mold — and that cost spreads across the whole run. A 50-coin order and a 5,000-coin order use the same mold, so the larger run pays far less per piece for it.
Three things make the math work in your favor on a bulk order:
- Free mold and setup over 300 coins. Below that threshold the mold is a one-time line item; above it, it’s included. The exception is die struck coins made in the USA, where the mold is charged at every quantity.
- Free artwork and unlimited revisions, at every quantity. You are never charged for design time, and you are never charged again for a revision.
- Two years of free mold storage. After your first order we keep the mold on file, so a reorder skips setup entirely and ships faster.

- Our clients most often want standard medallion style coins, and 2 inch is the most popular bulk size. We can work to any specification, and dual purpose coins like bottle openers and screwdrivers are popular as well.
- 2D or 3D:
- Flat die struck coins are the most economical at volume. 3D coins add sculpted relief and are available on bulk runs at the same free-artwork terms.
- Color:
- We use the Pantone Matching System to ensure consistency across all mediums. Organizational symbols and designs can be recreated easily with the exact shades of color — critical when a run of thousands has to match a brand standard.
- Materials:
- We use durable metals like brass, steel, and zinc in coin construction. This ensures longevity and dexterity. Custom designs are sure to hold their smooth surfaces and vibrant colors.

We ask for some information on what type of designs you are looking for before we get started. If you have any ideas or pre-drawn art, send it our way — even a sketch on the back of a napkin helps. Our artists will have your first free proof ready within 24 to 48 hours, and free unlimited revisions mean you can keep adjusting until the design is right.

Our minimum for custom molded coins is 50 per design. Per-coin pricing improves at every quantity tier above that — compare them on our challenge coin pricing page.
If you need fewer than 50, our no-minimum custom coin builder lets you order as few as one coin, and stock and personalized coins have no minimum either. We can also produce a 5-coin pre-production sample against a larger order, though it isn’t cost-effective on its own.

Due to limited storage space, if the coin molds expire, we recycle the materials to use for new projects. If a reorder is placed while the mold is on file, there is no mold fee and the 2-year storage term begins again!

If you would like to reorder the same coins within that two-year time frame, production will take less time, and there will be no additional mold and set up fees because everything is already prepared for our production team. After a coin design is reordered, we will restart the clock and hold your coin molds for two years starting on the date of the reorder.
If you reorder a design outside of the two-year time frame, our production team will have to recreate the molds for you.
Reordering with Changes
It is important to know that for a two-sided coin design, there are two coin molds. If you would like to reorder a coin design but change one of the sides, our production team will only have to create one new mold for the second order of coins. Take this design as an example:
If you don’t make any art changes, you can change the plating of your coin design, without paying a new mold fee.

After the custom coin design (Proof) is approved and ordered, the project goes directly into production. Standard coins take 3–4 weeks of production; shipping is additional (free, typically a few days).
For instance, a non-colored antique design with no upgrade features typically takes 3–4 weeks. Special designs — dual plating, 3D, special enamels — add production time.
We also offer USA Made Rush for coins: simulated enamel in 3–5 days of production, die struck in 7–10 days. Check in with us for timelines for your specific design.
