25K Medals

Custom designs go a long way in marking the occasion with a dose of sentiment and meaningful symbolism. 25k races are no easy feat. Before You Run
It is not as easy as tying up your shoes and hitting the track. You need to prep! When it comes to road races, like 25ks and marathons, months of training needs to come first. You can’t just jump right in a expect to do well. Anyone who has jumped on a treadmill on January 1st can tell you that first lap of the track goes by easy but after that… let’s just call it a struggle.
Your body needs time to condition. You need to train your lung, your muscles, and even your mind. The amount of dedication and determination that goes into running long races is unprecedented at times. The whole sport is about pushing your own limits and avoiding your comfort zone. Training starts a long time before you arrive at the race. But what about just a few days before the race? What can you do then?
Focusing on what you eat and drink can make a world of difference before you hit the tarmac.
-
Hydration:
- Obviously, you want to make sure you are hydrated. It's good to put yourself into a routine of drinking plenty of fluids each day, but it is vital when a race is coming up. The day before your race, start increasing your fluid intake so that it carries over into the actual run. Most races will supply water or sports drinks in some form, but feel free to bring your own as well. Drink plenty of fluids while you run!
-
Eating:
- You don’t want to change your routine too much from the norm before a big race. Your body has a routine just like you do, and mixing it up too much may have a bad effect overall. In the days leading up to the race, however, it is a good idea to stick to lean proteins like chicken or fish. Also, stick to carbs that come from sources like pasta, fruit, and vegetables. Try to avoid processed foods and fats. Dairy may cause digestion issues so it’s not a bad idea to cut back on that as well. Before you race, you should eat 2-3 hours before the start. Whatever you are comfortable with should be fine, however, try to moderate your fiber intake. Too much fiber could lead to a need for restroom visits throughout the run. Generally, there will be plenty of facilities available, but you don’t want to have to constantly stop during your race!
-
Warming up:
- Stretching will not prevent injuries. There is really nothing in this world that is a full proof means of avoiding injury, however, doing some active stretching to warm up before a race can improve overall performance and lower your risk of injury. Do dynamic stretches like high knees, jumping jacks, or leg kicks to wake up your muscles. Engaging your muscles gets them warm and readies them for a long endurance run.
At the end of the day if you have a routine that works for you, stick to it. It is all about making sure you are comfortable for your race and well prepared so that you can make it over that finish line and earn that medal!

Running the Distance
Moses Mosop currently holds the world record for the fasted run 25k in history. He finished the distance in 1 hour 12 minutes and 25 seconds beating the previous record set in 1981 by Toshihiko Seko. Setting records is no easy feat. Elite runners train their entire lives and never manage to set records or rank in the areas they direct all of their efforts, however, that does not decrease the value of their dedication. It takes strong will, body, and mind as well as patients to train and then excel at road racing.
Even finishing a 25k is a reward unto itself. Some runners start off looking to just get into shape and then get sucked into the world. They train day in and day out working on improving their mile time, their 5k time, there 10k time, and beyond that. They train for 25k races, for half marathons, and marathons. Each achievement is a step closer to that end goal. Some may find a 25k as the ultimate goal. They may finish the race hold their metal high and believe they have made it! For others, a 25k may just be another stepping stone on the way to finishing an even bigger race down the road. Either way, those men and women who finish these races are achieving greatness.
Holding that 25k medal in their hands, runners are holding a symbol of all that they have achieved. They can see themselves at the beginning clear as day. That time when finishing a mile was a huge achievement. But they can also see where they are going. They see a shadow of themselves at the end of a marathon holding a medal high having finished years of work to reach that spot.
Either way, having a custom race medal is an important way to commemorate the achievement. The amount of care, dedication, and effort that goes into crafting a custom 25k medal should be equal to the work put into making that goal of finishing a road race a reality. Trust Signature Coins to produce the perfect race medals for you. Give them something that will last for years, and that holds a meaningful weight!
